Planning! - What do I need to do?
Each council will have different criteria that need to be met, these will depend on the surrounding area and 'blending in' the extension, has the house had an extension before? how big is the extension in relation to the rest of the house? All these questions your planners or architect will be able to help you with. What you need to do is to try and have a realistic vision and direction to help your architect deliver on his plans what you want!
If you have done your project opportunity analysis, spoken with your architect and planners and are happy, you just need to submit your plans forplanning permission. There will be a fee for this, but when its paid and submitted all you can do is sit back and wait for the planners to do their thing!
While this is going on, its often a good time to look around at your home as it is, and start to research the materials that you want to use to match what you already have - or if you dont want to match, work out what you want. Bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, tiles, doors, skirting boards, etc etc.
