Important!!!!!
Your contract documents will be a collection of your tender documents, and amendments that have been made since you sent your tender package out.
Make sure that everything is listed - print or writing is legible - both parties sign to agree to the contract - both parties have a copy.
The contract doesnt have to be complicated, but should be clear and concise.
Make sure that as a minimum the following is included:
Start & finish dates
Final price, stating whether it includes or excludes VAT (this is currently 17.5%, if there is confusion it can be a lot of money)
What the builder or contractor has included and excluded within his price.
The drawings that were used to price the job, including the revision - if there are changes, these revisions will detail the changes and inturn help make any financial adjustments.
A completed pricing schedule that represents agreed stage payments.
